Best labels for pots, stakes, or kitchen garden: Free, durable, reusable plant markers
June 4, 2011 — Joy
Dairy lid container tags can be easily stapled to stakes in order to be held above your more robust vegetation.
Plastic lids from dairy food containers have proven the most convenient plant markers for our kitchen garden. Slicing off the lid’s rim and cutting straight lines toward the center produces wedge-shaped tags. Once it has dried, an ordinary Sharpie marker’s ink will last the whole growing season despite sun and rain. The ink will not hold up to abrasion, however, so do not rely on the writing to remain visible where waving vegetation might erase it.
