Mosquitoes developing resistance to DEET

A study by the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences shows the Yellow Fever mosquito no longer smells DEET and therefore is not repelled by it. DEET, N,N-diethyl-meta-toluamide, is the most common active ingredient in insect repellents. Researchers recommend restricting widespread use of mosquito repellents so as not to breed more resistance by various mosquito species. Read more here.
