“Greener” turfgrass alternatives sought

In a bid to reduce use of water, fertilizer and pesticides, turfgrass specialists from the Department of Horticultural Science, University of Minnesota, have identified four species (two bentgrass and two fescues) which hold promise as alternatives to the turfgrasses currently used for golf course fairways in the northern U.S. Unfortunately golfers may be resistant to a possible change.
