More water used to process/package/ship foodstuffs than to raise them

A Carnegie Mellon University study, using a special computer model, has analyzed water use on an industry-by-industry basis. (Ex.: It takes nearly 270 gallons of water to make available $1’s worth of sugar.) The results highlight the need to invent and incorporate water-wise ways of doing business. Read more here.
