The Resurrection Fern (Polypodium polypodioides), a native of about half of our contiguous states, possesses the remarkable ability to survive near-total dessication. A collaborative study by associative professors from Villanova and Drexel universities shows that the “miraculous” revival mechanism is owed to a class of negatively charged proteins.
