25,000 forbs and 1,000 grasses sprouted in just 4 weeks

Restoration of Michigan’s Grand Island National Recreation Area with native plants began this winter thanks to funding by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. A portion of the funding was used to hire nine unemployed people who had previously been volunteers at the Hiawatha National Forest greenhouse. Read more here.
